ELISA and qPCR
Omschrijving
Part of the Advanced Therapies Training Program (ATTP). Explore the detection and quantification of DNA and RNA, and investigate protein and antibody detection and ELISA detection techniques. You learn the theoretical principles of qPCR and ELISA and build practical skills in both, carrying out experimental analyses in the lab and learning to interpret qPCR and ELISA data correctly.
Programma
One week of daytime classes, worth 5 credits, taught in English. Monday: basic principles of real-time PCR, prevention of PCR contamination, and a practical lab on the sensitivity of real-time PCR. Tuesday: primer design for real-time PCR, real-time PCR efficiency, calculations and applications, with a practical lab. Wednesday: RT-qPCR, plus a working session on reference genes, normalisation and RT-qPCR calculations. Thursday: basic principles of ELISA, ELISA detection techniques, and a practical lab on ELISA blocking agents. Friday: practical lab on ELISA with analysis of linearity, sensitivity and detection levels, ELISA bead-based multiplex assays, data analysis and troubleshooting. Passing the micro-credential earns a certificate; passing all micro-credentials within ATTP earns an additional postgraduate certificate.
